Under the Sea Macaroni and Hot Dogs

OctadogsOn one of our previous Disney trips we ate at Ariel’s Grotto in California Adventure. Octadogs and shells was on the menu and all three of my kids ordered it. I thought it would be pretty easy to replicate at home so it has become on of those fun meals that we make. It works great for movie night paired with The Little Mermaid.

  • 1 box velveeta shell macaroni
  • 1 hot dog per person
  • goldfish crackers

1. Make macaroni according to directions on box and set aside.

2. To make Octadogs, start about 3/4 way down and cut hot dog in half, cut the halves in half, and repeat until you have eight “legs”. Place in pot, and cover with water, bring to a boil and cook until legs twirl up. (you will want to cook in a bigger pot than usual to give the hot dog legs room to spread out). The picture below will show you what it should look like before cooking.

3. Place macaroni on serving plate, top with octadog and sprinkle with goldfish crackers.

4. Eat and Enjoy!
