Harvest Cafe- Canmore

Harvest CafeYesterday I had the absolute pleasure to eat at The Harvest Cafe in Canmore. It is an absolutely adorable little cafe set in the middle of town, they serve soup, sandwiches, desserts and what looked like a tasty little breakfast menu. However we were there for lunch, so the eggs we did not try, we did however eat soup and sandwiches until ready to burst. My poor delicious cauliflower soup didn’t even get finished because I was just plain too full. I started the meal with a creamy hot chocolate. It was a drizzly rainy day so I was happy to warm up while we waited for our food to come. Then was the meal, I had a chicken and brie wrap, it was served with a delicious cranberry mayo and a cup of cauliflower herb soup on the side. The sandwich was quite flavorful, cheesy goodness abounded, and the cranberry mayo was the a perfectly matched little jolt of flavor. My husband had the Canmore specialty Grizzly Paw Root Beer to start, I stole some, it was great. Then the b.l.t and tomato soup , all was good, he said his meal was just perfect. We both liked that the mayo actually came on the side as a dip instead of on the sandwich , really nice touch! Overall, I would say if you are ever in Canmore this is a restaurant that you simply must try!

Tim Horton’s -Calgary

Lasagna with Garlic BreadIt’s that time of the year again, roll-up the rim to win is back. For all you Americans out there that have no idea what I am talking about it is a popular promotion at Tim Horton’s. Basically you buy a hot beverage and roll up your cup at the end to see if you are a winner. The kids love to go and test their luck, and today Jordan won a second free hot beverage. She was quite happy. Erik has decided that he loves the new Lasagna combo, so all kids are pretty pleased when we stop in at Timmy’s for a quick-lunch on the go.

Chez Cora’s-Calgary

western skilletAbout 5 years ago my family and I had a wonderful vacation in St.John’s Newfoundland. It is where my dad grew up so I got to see so many things from his childhood, school, home and of course while vacationing dining out is a huge part. We went to some standard Newfoundland favorites like Chess’s for Fish and Chips and on our last day we went to a wonderful breakfast place called Cora’s. We were so impressed with all the fresh fruit that came with almost every meal, it was breakfast heaven. A few years later we got one in Calgary and man were we ever excited! Just a few weeks ago we spotted another brand new location, in Sunridge mall. So we tried it out. The best thing about Cora’s for a parent is there kid’s meals. For 5.45 you get a wide variety of breakfast foods, plus drink. And with their abundant adult’s menu both child and adult are happy. And Cora’s is always really lined up on Sunday’s so we were glad to see a new location with a little bit smaller wait time.kids french toast
