Harvest Cafe- Canmore

Harvest CafeYesterday I had the absolute pleasure to eat at The Harvest Cafe in Canmore. It is an absolutely adorable little cafe set in the middle of town, they serve soup, sandwiches, desserts and what looked like a tasty little breakfast menu. However we were there for lunch, so the eggs we did not try, we did however eat soup and sandwiches until ready to burst. My poor delicious cauliflower soup didn’t even get finished because I was just plain too full. I started the meal with a creamy hot chocolate. It was a drizzly rainy day so I was happy to warm up while we waited for our food to come. Then was the meal, I had a chicken and brie wrap, it was served with a delicious cranberry mayo and a cup of cauliflower herb soup on the side. The sandwich was quite flavorful, cheesy goodness abounded, and the cranberry mayo was the a perfectly matched little jolt of flavor. My husband had the Canmore specialty Grizzly Paw Root Beer to start, I stole some, it was great. Then the b.l.t and tomato soup , all was good, he said his meal was just perfect. We both liked that the mayo actually came on the side as a dip instead of on the sandwich , really nice touch! Overall, I would say if you are ever in Canmore this is a restaurant that you simply must try!

Phil’s- Calgary

MonkeysAs you all well know by now, we take our kids out to eat after church every Sunday. After my husband works Thurs, Fri and Sat evenings, it is nice to get some quality family time in! What you may not know about me, is I love diner food. Especially when dining with kids because they love when there is a load of selection on the menu, as do I.Uunfortunately it seems a lot of other people like to have Sunday brunch at diners as well and we are often greeted with 30-45 minute wait time. With three kids, no thank you! Today we decided to try out Phil’s on Macleod Trail, I have never eaten here before and thought it looked just like my type of restaurant. It was! Lots of selection on the menu, great service (Thanks, Jenna!) and yummy food, plus no wait time at all, I mean we walked in and were seated, I was kind of shocked! And so, we have found a new Sunday Brunch spot! Yay for us! I had the Monte Cristo sandwich, both boys had burgers, Jordan had the l’il spaghetti and Autumn ordered pancakes and was over joyed when the waitress brought her three different syrups to choose from.My Monte Cristo with fries

Muldoon’s Irish Ale House-Calgary

Burger and friesOne of our yearly traditions is to do dinner and some other fun activity with my husbands siblings, and their significant others of course. With 10 kids between us we don’t spend a lot of time with just the adults. Because we all usually have our own New Year’s plans, this is our late celebration. This year was a nice little Irish pub in Southeast Calgary called Muldoon’s. Monday night was 8 dollar burger night so our table saw 5 burgers and 1 salad order. The burgers were quite good, the patty itself had a lot of flavor, the bun was fresh. I ordered guacamole on the side to dip my fries in and it was quite a good little guacamole. I think the food was very good, and I would go back, lots!
